The ISSG Magazine

Information Security Now is the quarterly BCS magazine for all those in the BCS who are interested in the broad field of information security.  It is produced in collaboration with the ISSG and using the BCS-ISSG Committee as its editorial advisors.

It can be viewed online by anyone from the main BCS web site.

A printed version is available, but exclusively for BCS-ISSG members.  It is sent to all ISSG members by post as soon as it is published, usually before the online version is available from the BCS server.

Do you like the feel of real paper in your hands and the enjoyment of reading a professionally printed, full colour technical magazine wherever and whenever you choose?  If you do prefer paper and print, then you need to join the ISSG!

For example, the Summer 2010 issue includes the following:

Attack spotting.  Ron Meyran, Director of Security Products at Radware, asks why it is so hard to distinguish between legitimate and attack traffic.
Caching in.  Rogan Dawes, Principal Security Consultant at Corsaire, warns that although many people are unaware of it, there is a serious security issue that affects how the worlds's most popular browsers store your data.
Coping after the hack.  Giri Sivanesan, Senior Security Consultant at Pentura, provides advice on the steps that should be taken from the point of discovery of a hacking incident.
Test of strength.  Chris Klein, Product Manager at VeriSign, explains how the addition of DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC) should strengthen trust and security in the DNS.
Keep on running.  What would we do if the internet stopped working?  Carole Theriault, Senior Security Consultant at Sophos, says the threat is there and we shouldn't ignore it.
DEA wash up.  The ISSG's own Charlotte Walker-Osborn, Partner at Eversheds LLP and her colleague Jennifer Liddicoat, a Solicitor in the Technology Group at Eversheds LLP, discuss the Digital Economy Act.
Atomic survival.  The internet was designed to survive a nuclear war.  Regular contributor John Mitchell asks if it can survive attacks from the people who use it too.
In addition, as always, there are the usual magazine features, such as the ISSG editorial and book reviews.
