Information Security Now is the quarterly BCS
magazine for all those in the BCS who are interested in the broad
field of information security. It is produced in collaboration
with the ISSG and using the BCS-ISSG Committee as its editorial
advisors.
It can be viewed online by anyone from
http://www.bcs.org/server.php?show=nav.8334.
A printed version is available, but exclusively for
BCS-ISSG members. It is sent to all ISSG members by post as soon
as it is published, usually long before the online version is available
from the BCS server.
Do you like the feel of real paper in your hands
and the enjoyment of reading a professionally printed, full colour
technical magazine wherever and whenever you choose? If you do prefer
paper and print, then you need to join the ISSG!
For example, the Spring 2008 issue
includes the following:
 |
.Social networks at work. Our editor investigates why
use of social networks drives many a CIO or IT manager to despair. |
 |
Legal realities in virtual worlds. Charlotte
Walker-Osborn and Jonathan Price from Eversheds LLP explore some of
the legal implications of virtual worlds. |
 |
Born to serve. Gerhard Eschelbeck, CTO of Webroot,
explains why companies big and small need to think about email good
practice. |
 |
The year of the guru. An interview with Bruce
Schneier. |
 |
The right tools for the job. John Mitchell
explains why standards and qualifications are essential for IS governance. |
 |
For the want of privileged password management. Calum
Macleod, European Director of Cyber-Ark, argues that recent events at French
Bank Societe Generale are yet another example of illegal insider activities
and poor password management. |
 |
Stay safe but be flexible. John Livingston, Chairman
and CEO of Absolute Software, warns us that the workplace is changing as a
new generation of employees enter the workforce with expectations of
flexible work time, blurring the line between traditional work and personal
time. |
 |
Don't let control go out the Windows. Peter Wood, CEO
of First Base Technologies, shows that although you may have to run
Microsoft Windows, you don't need to be a victim to any of its flaws. |
 |
In addition, as always, there are the usual magazine
features, such as forthcoming events and news about the ISSG itself. |
