This web page lists all the BCS ISSG events for the current
year, together with Information Security events organised by other BCS
Specialist Groups and Regional Branches. From time to time, the ISSG may
endorse other relevant meetings, usually of a non-commercial nature, and
always where there is some specific benefit to both the ISSG and its
members. Such events are also listed here. You can find a comprehensive listing of information security events, conferences and exhibitions at http://www.infosecdiary.com/. CALENDAR OF EVENTS IN DATE ORDER
BCS ISSG EVENTS Wednesday 24th September 2008. Venue to be confirmed shortly. Computer Forensics is always of interest to our members, and our regular Forensics Days are always well attended. You can read a report on our last Forensics Day here. Full details of this year's event will be available shortly. MOVING THE GOALPOSTS - SECURING FLEXIBLE BUSINESS Wednesday 26th November 2008. Venue to be advised later. Business merge, divest divisions, get taken over. These structural changes create major problems for those responsible for IS infrastructures, at a time when corporate management's attention is directed to other things than information security. This meeting will address the security issues associated with the impact of changing business strategies on IT infrastructure. Friday 23rd January 2009. To be held at the Royal Air Force Club, Piccadilly, London. A regular fixture in the ISSG calendar, the "Legal Day" will bring you up to date with key legal changes and news which may impact on the IT/IS professional's business. Led by the Group's own legal expert, committee member Charlotte Walker-Osborn, and with speakers drawn from various areas of industry and related regulatory bodies, this seminar is likely to cover new laws around data protection, information security, IT and more. Thursday and Friday 26th and 27th March 2009. Venue to be advised later. The Annual Conference is our premier event, and provides an excellent opportunity to get together and meet other Information Security professionals. This year's theme will be "Data Leakage and Data Loss - The New Frontier". BCS ISSG ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Wednesday 13th May 2009. Venue to be advised later. Every year we hold a free event in conjunction with our Annual General Meeting, usually at the premises of a major supplier of Information Security products. A number of presentations on topics related to the business area of our host are followed by the formal business of the Annual General Meeting. Note: There is no admission charge for this event, which is restricted to ISSG members only.
Our sister Specialist Group, BCS IRMA (Information Risk Management and Audit) organises a number of events that sometimes have a significant Information Security content or relevance. Details of their events, once published, are listed below. For full details, please see http://www.bcs-irma.org/events.htm. Details of 2008-09 BCS IRMA events will appear here when available. OTHER EVENTS 28th to 30th April 2009. To be held at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre, Kensington, London. Want to find out more about the ISSG? Once again, representatives from our committee will be present on the BCS stand to answer questions about the Group and meet our members. If you plan to attend, why not make a note now to drop by the BCS stand! |
