This web page lists all the BCS ISSG events for the
forthcoming
year, together with Information Security events organised by other BCS
Specialist Groups and Regional Branches. From time to time, the ISSG may
endorse other relevant meetings, usually of a non-commercial nature, and
always where there is some specific benefit to both the ISSG and its
members. Such events are also listed here. You can find a comprehensive listing of information security events, conferences and exhibitions at http://www.infosecdiary.com/. CALENDAR OF CONFIRMED 2009-10 EVENTS IN DATE ORDER
BCS ISSG EVENTS Because of the BCS Year-End change, details of some of our events, such as the 2010 AGM, are not yet available. Thursday 16th July 2009. To be held at the BCS London Offices, Southampton Street, London. This event will take a close look at Penetration Testing. You will not be taught how to conduct Pen Tests but rather you will find out about all the essential components that go to make up a successful Penetration Test. The objective of the event is to make all attendees proficient in Pen Testing basics. Further details are available on our next event page. Please note that this event is now fully booked. Thursday 24th September 2009. To be held at the BCS London Offices, Southampton Street, London. The privacy day is now a regular fixture in the ISSG's annual programme of events. Led by Ian Fish, ISSG Committee Member and member of the BCS Information Privacy Expert Panel, this meeting will once again bring you an interesting mix of factual briefings and potentially controversial personal opinion. MOVING THE GOALPOSTS - SECURING FLEXIBLE BUSINESS Tuesday 17th November 2009. To be held at Cranfield University, Shrivenham, Swindon. This full day event will cover both the legal and technical aspects of the security implications of business change. Friday 22nd January 2010. To be held at the Royal Air Force Club, Piccadilly, London. A regular and very popular fixture in the ISSG calendar, the "Legal Day" will update you on key changes to legislation and policy relating to the IT/IS profession. Speakers are drawn from a wide range of industry and legislative bodies, and will give us their expert insight on the law and its application in practice. The event is facilitated by ISSG committee members Charlotte Walker-Osborn, a partner at solicitors Eversheds, and David Alexander, who isn't a lawyer but claims he can sound like one... Thursday and Friday 18th and 19th March 2010. To be held at the Studley Castle Hotel, Reddich, Warwickshire. A new location this year for what is our premier event. An excellent opportunity to get together and meet other Information Security professionals in convivial surroundings away from London. This year's theme will be announced shortly. CAN YOU KEEP IT SECRET? AN ENCRYPTION DAY Wednesday 26th May 2010. To be held at the BCS London Offices, Southampton Street, London. Most IT professionals use encryption every day of their working lives, but have very little understanding of what is going on within the encryption products and services that they use. Join us to gain an insight into what encryption really offers in practice.
Our sister Specialist Group, BCS IRMA (Information Risk Management and Assurance) sometimes organises events that have a significant Information Security content or relevance. Details of their events, once published, are listed below. For full details, please see The IRMA forthcoming events web page. Details of future BCS IRMA events will appear here when available. At present we are unaware of any planned IRMA events for 2009-10. OTHER EVENTS 27th to 29th April 2010. To be held at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre, Kensington, London. Missed us this year? Still want to find out more about the ISSG? Well, once again, representatives from our committee will be present on the BCS stand to answer questions about the Group and meet our members. If you plan to attend, why not make a note now to drop by the BCS stand! |
